The Stil

Over the course of my 18 years, I have been to countless numbers of ice cream restaurants. For the most part it seems that ice cream is ice cream. Most would argue that you can’t go wrong with, but it can be rare that one restaurant would actually stand out as different from the rest. The Stil, in downtown Boise, has beat the odds and succeeded in setting itself apart from the others.

Before trying out The Stil for myself, I had heard many rave reviews. However, I have often heard good reviews about ice cream places only to find that they are really just mediocre. Because of this, I wasn’t expecting much from The Stil, but was of course willing to try it out. Located on Broad Street, The Stil is 1.6 miles from my home on campus. Walking in I first noticed the bright and open feeling of the place. The inside is connected to its outside sitting area by a both inside and outside bar styled table. The ice creams themselves have fun names and some goofy flavors, but nothing too outrageous seeming.

The ice cream that I chose was Peanut Butter with No bake Cookies. I requested a sample soon and upon eating it I was immediately taken aback by how smooth the ice cream once. I am not being dramatic when I say it was the softest and smoothest ice cream I have ever tasted. Honestly incredible. By the time I finished my small cup I felt the same way on the last bite as I had on the first.

The Stil is, in my opinion, a Boise landmark. Everyone coming in from out of town, and those from Boise itself, need to try it!! The fun flavors and affordable prices make it a great place for an after dinner treat or short date with friends. I would highly highly recommend!
